Roland Maurmair’s artist book is a manifesto of his artistic work. In performances, drawings and in his more conceptual works, he aims to render and emotionalize what could be meant by “nature” and “technology.” Humorously, loudly, subversively and subtly, he takes the side of the unseen and singled-out, of a sustainability that roots in the unconscious, of a longue-durée reasoning. Maurmair’s animistic Big Mama is hell-bent on technique, anarchic, and always poetic.
Also available as a companion to the book is the artist edition Das große Lächeln (dry point etching, 8 x 12 cm, signed and numbered edition of 30, EUR 150).
